Nothing says Asian like a tin robot. Seriously, this was a cute touch.

Sunday afternoon and we decide to eat at the popular newish place called Pink Panda, located in the gentrifying girly bar district in Makati. The place is described as a Southeast Asian cafe and the decor and cuisine reflect as such. It’s not identifiably Thai nor Filipino nor Indonesian but a mix of regional cues, including the flavors.

Seafood Pho. More colorful than flavorful.

The dishes we ordered were mostly on the sweet side, perhaps catering to Filipino preferences, tasty enough but we weren’t blown away. Our family is spoiled on spice – we like our flavors playful, strong and interesting, and our orders didn’t quite give the kick we were looking for. Presentation was top notch, though, so kudos for that.

The Pad Thai is on the sweet side but not bad, and can easily be demolished by a hungry person.

Still, not a bad place for a quick meal and/or a photoshoot. The place is cozy and well-appointed, the food and bev selection is diverse, and the prices aren’t bad. Just remember to ask for fresh chili and condiments.

My son is a pyromaniac. Colorful shooting opportunities in this resto, so do bring a camera.
