Paint Action
So a few hours ago I received my first results from the Nishika N8000 3D camera, developed and scanned to CD for me by Digiprint. While the scanning did leave a lot to be desired (poor scan cropping and alignment, low resolution, inconsistent tone and saturation), I am happy to announce that the camera, rescued from a friend’s rubbish bin, does in fact work.
Above are a few test animations.
My observations on the camera will follow soon.

hey there mike.
thanks for appreciating this. i was recently given an old Nishika N8000 3D lenticular camera, which takes 4 shots of the same scene (with slight variances) simultaneously. i then animate using photoshop. the principal is the same as for our eyes. the left eye sees things slightly different than the right eye, but our brain reconstitutes it as the 3D world we know.
here’s a link that explains it better. I’ve been interested in stereoscopy for the last 2 years i guess but it’s only been recently that i’ve had access to the equipment.
will post more fo’ sho’!

Whoah! Interesting results — regardless of the scanning inconsistencies, those’re still pretty unique pictures!

Glad to see the vintage cam works. What a gem! Sorry to hear Vintage Pop closing, by the way. Never was able to go back there. Thanks for sharing the test shots. Good luck with finding more about it.

No wonder they asked Vincent Price to be the spokesperson, these shots (well chosen backgrounds to add to the effect) look downright spooky.
I hadn’t thought about it, but Don Miguel is right, it does look like the ones in Harry Potter.
Great shots- how much does it cost to develop?

Digiprint has a Film to CD service that costs only 260 pesos for 5 rolls of film. They deliver anywhere in the Philippines!

Weird. For some inexplicable reason, WordPress now seems to have removed support for animated gifs. Promise to replace these 3D shots with images served elsewhere. Soon, not now. It’s 2am and I have to sleep.
